Elizabeth Sher learned how to run a restaurant kitchen while living in a Thai refugee camp after fleeing genocide in her homeland of Burma. After immigrating to the United States in 2011, she met her husband-to-be, Soe Win, when he was working at a Grant Street grocery store. She couldn’t buy the big bag because she had to take buses home — so he offered to drive.

Now parents to four children, Elizabeth and Soe often have their oldest daughters, Moeyusher Julywin and Soethanda Win, helping behind the counter at Pattaya Street Food.
